How to deploy the vCenter Server 6 Appliance with an Embedded Platform Services Controller?

By | March 14, 2015

This post covers how to deploy the vCenter Server Appliance with an Embedded Platform Services Controller. Why Appliance? Because as I mentioned here, the vCenter appliance is the future! Fortunately, it was released a tool which you can use to migrate vCenter from Windows Machine to the Appliance. For more information please follow my another post here.

There are some posts about vCenter 6.0 and Platform Services Controllers as follow:

vCenter Server 6 Appliance Prerequisites

  • Verify that your system meets the minimum software and hardware requirements: ESXi 5.1.x or later; depends on size of infrastructure: 2-32GB RAM, 2-16vCPU, 120GB-450GB available space on datastore).
  • Verify that the ESXi host on which you deploy the vCenter Server Appliance is not in lockdown or maintenance mode.
  • If you plan to use NTP servers for time synchronization, make sure that the time between the NTP servers and the ESXi host is synchronized.
  • Create a DNS record for vCenter Appliance before starting steps 4-20.

Yes, but it hasn't helped, there is a trouble with Windows 8.1x64 (may be it's just a problem with my winx64).
I solved a problem of installation guest Win7x64 on workstation and deployment of it.

    Hi,

Sorry, this is another topic - how can I log in to https://server-name../psc/ ? (vCenter & Platform Services Controller are on the same machine after upgrading from 5.5 U3 to 6.0 U2)
    I get a 404 error message:
    message /psc/
description The requested resource is not available.
    All services are running.

    Thanks.

      Hi,

you should able to log in to via /psc using SSO Administrator account. If you get 404 error, it looks like an upgrade hasn't been done successfully.

    Hi,

During the deployment of the VCSA appliance 6.0 you get the following error messages displayed:
    • Failed to set the time via NTP. Details: Internal Error. Code 1
    • Failed to set hostname.
    • Verify that provided ntp servers are valid.
